It's the first Friday of the month! You know what that means - once again we celebrate the awesome musical talent that we have here in the up bay with our FIRST FRIDAY LOCAL MUSICIANS' SHOWCASE! :D
This month we have a special treat - I've been looking forward to hearing these folks for a long time - the original Caribbean jazz of BOW HAMMER SKINS - Featuring Herb Ruffin on Keyboards and Karese Young on Viola.
Herb, aka Herboskie, musician, composer, & keyboardist performs Jazz, R & B, Gospel and Reggae. The 24` piano is an old and best friend under his fingers. He has performed with Zulu Spear, The Bobby Young Project and Ricardo Scales. He carries on the tradition of most jazz artists – originality.
Karese began playing Jazz, Blues and Gospel around 2005 when she began performing as a duo with Herb. The viola’s alto range adds an interesting flavor to the music and she enjoys the freedom of expression through improvisation.
Come on out for am evening of cool original music that takes you to the warm tropics!
