Back in June 2008, Country Joe McDonald (of 1960s band, Country Joe and the Fish, fame) began hosting a monthly open mic in North Berkeley. Riding its success, in October, Country Joe's Cafe Music Hall opened . . . only to close in January 2009 as the economic climate made staying open untenable. Happily, Country Joe has found a new venue for his monthly open mic: The Berkeley Unitarian Church on Cedar. How many open mics are hosted by a bona fide 1960s Berkeley folk hero?

Pueblo Nuevo Artspace & Gallery
1828 San Pablo rd. Suite 1, Berkeley, CA 94702
Pueblo Nuevo Gallery is an alternative artspace in Berkeley founded in early 2008 by Bay Area natives with an emphasis on promoting artists working in the Bay Area. As working artists ourselves, we realize that networking and wider recognition are vital to a successful artist career, as well as having use of either free or affordable equipment and space to complete ones projects. Central to Pueblo Nuevo’s philosophy is the concept of accessibility for artists to create, showcase and sell their work, as well as maintaining a nexus for an artist community based on developing relationships, education, and dissemination of artwork as well as exchange of new ideas.
